A free family activity · About 5 minutes
A home for a
small creature.
Imagine a little creature. What kind of shelter would you make for it?
You’ll need: paper and crayons or a pencil. A grown-up to share ideas with. No trip to the shore needed.
Imagine
Draw a small, imaginary creature. Does it hop, crawl, or do something completely different?
Make a home
Draw a shelter around it. Ask: “What might help your creature feel sheltered?” Follow the child’s idea.
Wonder together
What did Liam, Grace and Charlotte notice before they knew what was moving? What changed their guess?
A question for older explorers
How is “I think it is a snail” different from “I see little legs”? One is a guess; one is an observation.
Grown-up note: This is an imagination activity. Real animals have their own shelter needs. Keep the drawing at home and enjoy talking about it together.
